Founded in 2010, we endeavor to change lives by improving the quality of LGBT theater and film
for this generation and those to come. Utilizing stories with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and
transgender characters or themes, we create powerful presentations. We accomplish this mission through
a season of Jeff-eligible productions, writing contests that culminate with new work festivals at
Center on Halsted, film screenings, and special events like TransFest and LezFest designed to bring
attention to underserved artists and audiences.
In 2015, Huffington Post called PFP Films “A powerful and empowering entity.”
In our first four Jeff-eligible seasons, we earned 14 Jeff nominations and 4 awards, including
“Best Musical” and “Best New Work.” Last year, all of our productions were Jeff recommended. This year,
two plays have already been Jeff recommended. Our productions have played in Los Angeles, Dublin, and
Philadelphia. Presently, one of our productions is being licensing across the country.

Theatre Askew was founded to explore a radical new approach to the
representation of “queerness” on stage; one that embraces a spectrum
of relationships and identities. We propose a definition of queerness
that serves as a metaphor for all those who stand outside of,
challenge, or reject mainstream consumer-based models of gender or
sexuality. This is the community for whom we make our work, gay and
straight. Since 2004, our productions have attempted to straddle
categories often set in opposition to each other: accessible and
experimental; gay and straight; pleasing and provoking; popular and
alternative. We search for the connections between queer experience
and issues of the broader culture. We draw from our rich theatrical
and literary heritage to inspire exciting new work. We are committed
to creating theatrical events that confront political concerns and
that have social impact and moral consequence.
