Web-based articles can be used as sources for quotes or facts. They can be used in a thesis, report, or magazine article the same way that books or magazine articles are cited as sources. Citations allow readers to check an article’s accuracy.
Citations can be placed in parentheses or brackets just after a quote, fact, or opinion. They can also be placed at the end of an article as footnotes or endnotes.
Generally, Web citations would have the same information as a cite from a book or an article, with the addition of the Web address:
- Name of Article
- Author (an individual or an organization)
- Date
- Web Address
- Organization Name
- Mailing Address
- Phone
- E-mail
